Chiang Mai has visitors from all over the world throughout the year. It is the major city of northern Thailand. With such a rich history, Chiang Mai has served as the capital of the Lanna Kingdom before becoming a part of Thailand. Famous Attractions:

If you still remember, “Doi” in Thai means “hilltop”. The most popular place on Doi Suthep is “Wat Phra That Doi Suthep” (“Wat” means “temple” in Thai, “Phra That” means “relics of Lord Buddha”). There are two ways to visit the golden pagoda on the peak, climbing 306 steps (exactly 306 steps!) or taking the cable car. You can see panorama view of Chiang Mai city and countryside on the top.
Chiang Mai Zoo:
located at lower slopes of Doi Suthep, it is a good place to take a break after long trips around Chiang Mai. There is also a decent sized zoo to entertain the whole family.Open time: 8.00am to 8.00pm, 7days a week
Doi Inthanon National Park:
Doi Inthanon is the highest mountaintop of Thailand, with 2,565 meters above the sea level. It has perfect tropical forest conditions. You can relax yourself with wonderful natural scenery, waterfalls, bird watching, caves and camping sites. You can enjoy bird watching and flowers along the beautiful trail leading to the summit.
Doi Luang Chiang Dao (Chiang Dao National Park):
It is an absolute place for forest hikingbecause of it’s abrupt ground and challenging trek. After climbing to the top, you will forget all the works and difficulties along the way. At the peak, there is a sea of fog during the sunrise surrounded by exotic flowers. It is also known for an ideal site for bird watching, over 300 species of birds waiting to be seen.
Sankampaeng:
A famous and favorite road to the tourists, is well known for varieties local factories of very fine handicrafts- Thai silk products

Elephant camps:
There are many elephant camps in Chiang Mai, such as “Mae Sa Elephant Camp” and “Chiang Dao Elephant Training Centre”, “Elephant Nature Park” and “Pong Yang Elephant Camp”. You will see elephant showering show, elephant playing soccer, elephant painting (yeah…. they paint!!!…they are really smart... they can paint very incredibly awesome pictures, you can also buy the paintings home) and much more. (the show will vary in each camp, the shows we mentioned and the pictures shown are from Mae Sa Elephant Camp, if you don’t know which camp you should go, we recommend this camp) You can also take a elephant ride (2 people per elephant), most camps offer 30 minutes and 60 minutes ride. The elephant will take you through the natural environmental tracks, you can enjoy the ride and take a picture with the elephant.
Doi Ang Khang:
With unspoiled nature and fresh cool climate on Doi Ang Khang, it becomes popular among tourists around the world. Doi Ang Khang used to be a place for growing illegal opium by the hill-tribes in the area, but all those changed by the help of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej. King Bhumibol Aduyadej started the Royal Project which educated and provided helps to hill-tribes to grow fruits, flowers, vegetables, and winter plants using modern science. The road to the hilltop of Doi Ang Khang is very steep and winding. We do not recommend you to drive on this road yourself, it is a better idea to get a taxi with an experienced driver who knows the area well. During climbing on the road, you can sit back and enjoy the magnificent view and mountainous agriculture. Trekking and mountain biking is also possible on the hill. There is a favorite view point to watch sea of fog in the early morning that you will never forget. “Royal Ang Khang Research Station” is the recommended place, you will see a lot of planting, flower gardens and you can also purchase fresh and toxic-free vegetables, fruits and flowers.
Orchid and Butterfly farms:
There are various kinds of charming orchids on the farm and live butterflies fluttering around them. There are shops to buy beautiful souvenirs such as orchid-like and butterfly-like brooches, handcrafted soaps, and handcrafted candles.
Night Bazaar:
It is a heaven for bargain shoppers. There are a wide range of goods selling here, handicrafts are one of them. Many kinds of foods can be found along the long side of the road. This place is not recommended for small children because Night Bazaar is a very busy place and the walkways are so small that you might have difficulties trying to watch over your children.
Kan Toke Dinner:
This is a must go dinner, you have to go and experience northern Thai style food and folk and hill-tribe shows. Enjoy the tastily food during watching the amazing shows. The show usually last for 2 to 3 hours, with around 8 numbers of shows.
