Khon Kaen

It is the province that has absorbed civilizations and architectures from the prehistoric period. To this day, there are many preserved remains, antiques and traditions waiting to be explored. Khon Kaen is the major city in north east Thailand, it is the center of commercial, education and transportation in this region.

Famous Attractions:

Phu Pha Man National Park:

The sight of this national park is the gigantic limestone multi-layer cliff that resembling a vast curtain. The untouched forest, various waterfalls and comfortable weather make this park very attractive. There are several caves in this park house gorgeous stalagmites and stalactites. There are also prehistoric colored drawings in some caves.

Phu Wiang National Park:

This famous park is well known among tourists since it is a discovered site of dinosaurs’ fossils. The fossils can be dated back to 160 million years ago. There are other attractions in this parks like prehistoric cavemen’s paintings, waterfalls and untamed forests.

King Cobras Village:

People in this village own king cobra snakes as their pets. They carry out various snake shows such as king cobra vs. man boxing and king cobra dancing.

Sala Mai Thai:

This is a Madmee silk center located in Amphoe Chonnabot (Chonnabot city, Khon Kaen). The Madmee silks are unique colorful, neat textile and beautiful pattern silks that Isan people are very proud of and loyal to this rich culture. The center exhibits a lot of silk products and silk production process. It is one of the places in Khon Kaen that you do not want to miss.

Ubolratana Dam:

The largest dam in northeast Thailand, Ubolratana Dam, has a wonderful scenery. It is a good site for you and your family to have a little picnic, relax and enjoy the beautiful Ubolratana lake.
