Loei
The geography of Loei is mostly high ground and mountainous. It is well known for it's beautiful nature and cool weather. (cool in Thai standard which is a very comfortable weather for most others).
Weather:
The average temperature in dry season is 35 to 40 degrees Celsius, and 0 to 15 in cool season.
Famous Attractions:
Phu Ruea National Park:
This is a very famous place among Thais and tourists. This high mountain is easily accessible by cars. Appealing places on Phu Ruea are various fascinating view points and natural treks. A lot of people like to come before the first light to see an incredible sunrise view with a sea of fog (in cool season). The natural trek leads to the top of Phu Ruea that is the point to see spectacular top-view of Loei, take photos and enjoy the charming scenery. This national park also has breath-taking waterfalls and caves.
Chateau de Loei Winery:
The cool weather of Loei is perfect for growing grapes and they are used in the wine making process to produce “Chateau de Loei”. The winery is opened for tourists to observe its process. (February – July only) Tourists can also visit the vineyard and handpick the delicious, fresh grapes themselves.
Phu Kradueng National Park:
This is one of the best places to visit for trek lovers. With the total distance of 8.35 kilometers, the approximate time from starting point to the mountaintop is 4 to 5 hours. Since the trek consists of high slopes and long distances to cover, you need to plan for camping on top of the mountain for at least a night or two. There are interesting activities for you to do during camping like seeing wild orchids and flowers, enjoying implausible views, and taking photos.
Phra That Si Song Rak:
This large pagoda houses the relics of the Lord Buddha. It is a well respected place for Loei’s people.
